HOPE OF THE HIGH ENTIA, A Melia Antiqua Zine is a collaborative fan book that celebrates Melia Antiqua from Xenoblade Chronicles.The book features illustrations, writing, and other forms of media of our favorite bird lady from her original Xenoblade Chronicles design to her Hero design in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Our vision is to give reader a sense of why Melia is truly a beloved character in the Xenoblade Chronicles series. Of how she overcame all odds, and how she guides her friends and her people to find hope and salvation.

With Mental Illness plaguing the modern world, it is important that the Zine's sales go towards a worthwhile cause.We decided to choose the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) nonprofit organization. NAMI believes in the possibility of recovery, wellness, and the potential in all of us.

What is a zine?A zine in this context is a fan-made "magazine," created & distributed by fans for fans on a particular subject. Within fan-zines, it is popular to create a zine around a piece of media, topic, AU, or ship. These usually contain art & writing created by a team of contributors, & can come with fan-made merchandise digital &/or physical, sold in bundles of various sizes. This zine is a general focus zine on Melia Antiqua from Xenoblade Chronicles.🔷What will the rating of this zine be?This will be a SFW zine, suggested for a 14+ audience due to in-game themes & topics. This zine will allow blood, murder/death, themes of mental health, & the potential of suicide/suicidal ideation being mentioned. While these subjects may be present, this will be in-line with the themes of the game itself, & we will avoid any one piece delving too far into triggering content. This zine is not angst centric, & fluffier pieces are also encouraged!🔷How old do I have to be to apply?As this will be a SFW zine, & all profits will be donated to charity after production, we will be accepting applicants who are 18+.🔷Will this zine include Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 spoilers?Yes, this zine will not be spoiler safe, & will allow for the exploration of chapters 7 until the ending of Xenoblade Chronicles 1 (which includes the optional sidequest called Melancholy Tyrea), all of Xenoblade Chronicles Future Connected, all of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (specifically Chapter 7), and Melia's Hero and Ascension quest only available in the post game of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Characters that are from the Xenoblade games (Fiora, Tyrea, Nia, Shulk, etc.) will possibly be mentioned in the Zine which can include important plot points from Xenoblade Chronicles 1-3. If you have not finished the games, & wish to avoid spoilers, I would heavily suggest finishing those games specifically before applying for the zine, or reading further into the FAQ.🔷Will this zine include ships between Xenoblade characters?Implied shipping will be allowed, however it should not be the focus of your piece. We want the primary drive for the stories to be about the world-building & character development. Example of a pitch that may be allowed: Melia and Shulk reminesce on the journey they went through together and how that journey reflected on Melia's growth and openess towards her friends.
Any ships present will have to be between two consenting adults, who are unrelated to each other. Keep in mind that shipping art and writing will be kept to a minimal.🔷Are OCs allowed?Fan-made characters will not be included in this zine.🔷Will this zine include AUs?Aside from the allowance of pieces continuing what may happen after the conclusions of Xenoblade 1; Future Connected; and Xenoblade 3, or pieces that pull from canonical alternate timelines, AUs will not be allowed in this zine. All content included must be canon compliant to the game.🔷Will this zine be digital or physical?This zine will have a physical & digital run. Digital zine will be provided as a PDF document. Physical zine will be US Trade size (6" x 9"), & will be able to be purchased by itself or with a merch bundle during preorders.🔷Will this zine cost money to own?Both the digital & physical versions of this zine will cost money. The digital run of the zine will be significantly cheaper as there is no production or shipping price. As this is a non-profit zine, all profits generated will be donated after the shipping period is complete.🔷Can I apply to multiple roles as a contributor?Yes! Feel free to apply for any role during the application process. That being said, you will only be accepted in one role, whether that be as a merch artist, page artist, writer, or cosplayer.🔷Who are the zine's contributors?If they have a twitter account, they have been followed on the zine's twitter page along with moderators! The full lineup & individual spotlights will be posted throughout the creation period.🔷Will contributors be compensated for their work towards the zine?Yes. Contributors will get a free digital copy of the zine.
